DISCOVERING ABRUZZO
Abruzzo National Park

The Abruzzo National Park offers many opportunities to fully experience the genuine and sincere relationship with nature, culture, traditions and the different environments that characterize it. Once in the park it is advisable to get to know nature by mainly hiking. Only in this way can you perceive the presence of animals, observe the natural environments and enjoy contact with nature.

This splendid park, together with the equally marvelous Gran Paradiso National Park, is among the oldest in Italy and internationally known for its role in the conservation of some very important Italian fauna species: the Apennine wolf, the Abruzzo chamois. and the Marsican brown bear.

There are conflicting opinions on the presence of the lynx, while the once extinct deer is now booming. The reintroduction of the roe deer has allowed it to reproduce effectively and today it is very easy to spot it in the park. Many minor mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates and birds also live here. The golden eagle, which nests here, uses the park as a naturalistic corridor and is increasingly reconquering the areas where it was extinct.

Its roughly central position in the Italian peninsula and the various extensions made over the years have meant that the park was home to rare and endemic species of flora.
